Take-Two Interactive confirmed yesterday that WWE 2K15 is in development for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles.
During their Q3 2014 earnings conference call, the chairman and chief executive officer Strauss Zelnick stated that sales of WWE 2K14 have exceeded their original expectations. More add-on content is being worked on for the game and support for the title will not be taken away any time soon.
Sales of WWE 2K14 have exceeded our expectations and the title is being supported with add-on content including a Season Pass featuring many of fan-favourite WWE superstars and legends. We believe there is a meaningful opportunity to grow this series by further leveraging 2K’s marketing power and development expertise.
As for WWE 2K15, I hope this time around Take-Two focuses more on the visual aspect of things. WWE 2K14 is pretty similar to WWE 2K13 and is good but at the end of the day, the visuals are pretty bleak and cuts in the user’s immersion value.
WWE 2K15 will most probably release for previous-gen (PS3 and Xbox 360) as well even if they weren’t mentioned in the call. That said, a PC version is still a rumor for now. There was no mention of when the game will be released.
