Cliff Bleszinski, the creator of hugely popular Xbox 360 exclusive Gears of War will share information regarding his new game within next six weeks. While talking to Gamespot in an interview, Bleszinski said that he is looking for funds to work on his new project:
“Right now I’m looking at procuring funding for that; expect some news hopefully in the next four to six weeks.”
He wants that the initial funding to his project will be provided by a private investor or venture capitalist firm, but he hopes to crowd fund the game, he said:
“I would like to go directly to the consumer if possible, although with the safety net of providing outside financing. I think Kickstarter is a beautiful, romantic thing. I think that for every success story there’s ten failures, sadly, on Kickstarter.”
The article at Gamespot also notes that the success rate of the games at Kickstarter is about 35% which is better than the 9% suggested by Cliff Bleszinski.
He wants to make his game like DayZ, and want all the gamers to be a part of the development of the game. Bleszinski said:
“I think it’s possible with the success of DayZ, to have the concept of pay for alpha or pay for early access, and help the community forge and shape your game. Build the company while you build the game while you build the community, at the same time.”
It has been more than a year since Bleszinski first announced his project “codenamed Silverstreak”, we have to assume that it is a new IP, he has only assured the community that the game will be PC only arena shooter of some kind.
We may finally see the project that has been in the making slowly and steadily, and hopefully it will live up to the hype.
