Satya Nadella Might Replace Steve Ballmer as Microsoft’s CEO – Report
A few new reports have surfaced which suggest that Satya Nadella might replace Steve Ballmer as Microsoft’s CEO.
Microsoft has been considering candidates for some time now – since Ballmer announced that he’s planning on retiring within a year – and Mr. Nadella has been topping that list. The lead reporter of Bloomberg has confirmed this in a Tweet:
“Microsoft’s board is preparing to name Satya Nadella CEO, sources tell us.”
As of now, Mr. Nadella is designated as Executive Vice President of Microsoft’s Cloud and Enterprise Group.
Currently 46, he studied Electric Engineering in India and moved to USA for further studies. Prior to working at Microsoft, he has been working for Microsystems until 1992.
Nadella has also been seeing over the company’s online initiatives like transforming Windows Live Search into Bing. The only problem he might face is lack of experience as a CEO unlike other candidates like Tony Bates and Alan Mulally.
Bloomberg further reported that it’s not only Ballmer who will be leaving the company this year as the board is also considering to replace Bill Gates with John Thompson. Mr. Thompson is currently Microsoft’s Lead Independent Director.
If these reports are to be considered true, two of Microsoft’s most valuable assets will be leaving the company. The future remains to be unseen.
Although we have not received any official word from Microsoft, the reports that we acquired have confirmed that the company will announce its choice within this week.
As a gamer, I would like to see how Nadella will improve cloud capabilities for Xbox One and Xbox 360. What do you think?
