Publisher Kalypso Media announced today that El Presidente will be arriving with Tropico 5 on the PlayStation 4 as well.
The city simulator was announced last year for the PC and Xbox 360 but this is the first time that we’re hearing the studio confirming it for next-gen as well. Presently there is still no word on an Xbox One or Wii U version.
This is also going to be the first time that the franchise graces the PlayStation platform. In a press release today, Kalypso noted that Tropico 5 will “take full advantage” of the PS4’s unique hardware and controller features.
Tropico titles see to players managing their given island cities, wrestling with political issues, keeping the peace and battling nature. In the latest installment players must guide their island of Tropico from its colonial era into the future.
Different factions in the game will fight for the right to power, making your job difficulty. Tropico 5 will also include updated trading mechanics, new technology to use, new island exploration features and scientific research trees.
The game also features multiplayer for the first time in the series: both co-op and competitive multiplayer modes will be available for up to four players.
A release date has yet to be revealed by either the developer or publisher.
