Providing a solid release date, Nintendo has announced that Mario Kart 8 will make its debut on Wii U in May, 2014.
Prior to this, Nintendo told that the title will launch somewhere in spring, 2014 and many people speculated it to be in April.
During an investors’ meeting in Japan, Nintendo’s boss; Satoru Iwata confirmed that the title will see a worldwide release:
“We will announce the specific release dates of each software title and the release of new titles in other opportunities such as Nintendo Direct, but today we would like to announce that a key title for Wii U this year, Mario Kart 8, is scheduled to be released globally in May.”
With Mario Kart 8, Nintendo is hoping to get back in ‘huge momentum’ and plans on releasing mainstream titles more frequently.
In addition to this, the company has also provided a Supplement Document which showcases sales figures, upcoming third-party releases, and other details. The interested ones can download the .PDF file from Nintendo Japan website.
Besides this, Nintendo also announced several other things like there will be no price-cut for Wii U, the company’s primary focus is on gamepad on the console, and Nintendo Network ID will expand to mobile devices but the company is not going into mobile gaming.
