Good news for indie developers currently aiming at Sony, because Contrast from Compulsion Games surpassed a million downloads on the Playstation Store. This milestone is made up of both the Playstation 3 and Playstation 4 versions.
Though, technically, the publishing rights of the PS3 version are under Focus Home Interactive, Contrast was self-published on PS4. It’s also there that it probably sold the most or at least was downloaded in bulk.
Contrast was featured as a free download in the Playstation Plus catalog, replacing Don’t Starve, which recently shared the same success story. Hopefully, many of the PS4’s announced indie games will follow suit.
Guillaume Provost of Compulsion Games stated:
We feel rewarded and ecstatic that so many PlayStation fans have embraced our world throughout the Holiday season. It has given us the wonderful opportunity to engage with the community; evolving and improving the game as a result of their feedback.
To commemorate the event, Compulsion Games is setting up a flash sale with up to 50% off, depending on the region. For North America, the game will be discounted to $7.49 from now until January 31, 2014.
For Europe, as well as Australian regions, the game will be on sale now until February 5, 2014. You’ll need to check the store to see how much the discount is on your end.
Contrast offers a different take on platform games. It takes players back to the distinguished vibe of Vaudevillian eras. You can switch from its regular 3D environments to 2D settings made up from the environment’s shadow play.
