Rumor has it that a new engine is in the works at Valve Corporation. If the leaked images are not a fake, we could be looking at Source Engine 2.0 which has apparently been used to reconstruct a stage of Left 4 Dead 2.
A NeoGAF user posted a screenshot of a slideshow presentation that is detailing Source Engine 2.0 where Left 4 Dead 2’s Plantation level has been rebuilt using the engine.
Now this doesn’t really hint at the Existence of Left 4 Dead 3, but it sure does mean that it could become a reality sometime in the future. The existence of the recreation evidences that. Or could we be looking at a next-gen port of the game itself?
Any conclusion will be farfetched at this point, even if the image is confirmed to be true it still doesn’t mean we will see either a L4D2 remake or Left 4 Dead 3 – though other evidences for the latter do exist.
If you would remember, back in 2012 Valve co-founder Gabe Newell had said that they were working on “new engine stuff for a while,” and that they were “probably just waiting for a game to roll it out with.”
Maybe they are gearing up to roll it out now with Left 4 Dead 3?
