Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z Delayed, Gets 3-Issue Story Comic From Dark Horse

By   /   Jan 23, 2014

There’s good news and bad news for Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z. First off, the bad: Publisher Tecmo Koei has announced that the game will be delayed to March 21, 2014.

Now, for the good news: Dark Horse Comics will partner up with the company to release a series for the game’s release. In total, three issues will be made for Ninja Gaiden Z, with the first being available right now.

Digitally, the comic can be read through Dark Horse’s own mobile application. It’s available as a free download on both iOS and Android.

A full-color print version of the comic will also be made, in time for launch. People involved in the making of the episodes are writers Tim Seeley and Josh Emmons, artist Rafael Ortiz and colorist Carlos Badilla.

In this series, you’ll get a background story on exactly how the once human warrior has grown into the monstrosity that will be available in the game. In Ninja Gaiden Z, you’ll fight a zombie outbreak with some sort of cyber ninja.

Since this reboot of the series is leaps and bounds away from its previous ties, some additional context is certainly appreciated. Its first episode deals with providing a story on the warrior’s bloodlust and how those choices have shaped his world.

Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z will also reference numerous other things. It has a Mighty No. 9 costume in the game, a lolita slasher outfit and nods towards its 8-bit release.
