The classic action video game, Trapt also known as Kagero II: Dark Illusion – in Japan – is headed to Playstation Store as a Playstation 2 classic.
Although there is no official confirmation from Sony, an ESRB rating suggests that is coming. The rating of the game reads:
Platform: Playstation 3
Rating Category: Mature 17+
Content Descriptors: Blood, Violence
Trapt was developed for Playstation 2 by Tecmo (Tecmo Koei these days), who also have titles like Dead or Alive, Ninja Gaiden, Fatal Frame, and Dynasty Warriors under their belt.
For those of you who did not get a chance to pick this game up, the story revolves around Princess Allura, who has been accused of her father’s murder by her stepmother. This forces Allura to flee her homeland with the help of her friend.
Allura takes refuge in a dark forest where she learns about setting various traps and ambushes to get rid of her pursuers and avenge her dead father.
Trapt received somewhat mixed reviews from the critics and managed to get an aggregate of 60 on Metacritic.
The game, without any doubt, is pretty enjoyable and Allura’s story will keep you engaged but then again, it suffers from loads of technical instabilities, and voice art is not top-notch, primarily because it’s a port of a Japanese version called Kagero II: Dark Illusion.
Despite the fact that it has been featured in ESRB, nothing should be considered as final until we get an official word from either Sony or Tecmo Koei.
