Indie game Don’t Starve has prospered on Playstation 4, banking over 1 million players since its console edition release. In an interview with Edge, Corey Rollins of developer Klei Entertainment mentioned this fact, along with more information about the game.
The interview states:
With PlayStation Plus, beyond promotion of being a featured game, a lot of people who maybe wouldn’t have tried our game did [try it] and really enjoyed it. Some of those people went on to check out the PC version as well, and would maybe be interested in the upcoming DLC.
Don’t Starve was one of the first games on PS4 to be free of charge for subscribing PS Plus members. This influx of new players makes Klei Entertainment hopeful that people will buy into their upcoming downloadable content called Reign of Giants.
Moreover, the survival game might pop up on other platforms as well. In that interview, Corey states:
Currently, a lot of people play Don’t Starve: Console Edition using the PS4′s remote play, and really enjoy it. So we’re looking into a proper Vita release.
Further on, eventual prospects for the game to come to iOS and mobile devices are touched on as well, but nothing in a direct line right now. It would definitely work as a game on the go though.
In Don’t Starve, the only goal is survival in a Tim Burton universe, where nature is harsh and finding food and shelter is even harder. Fire is a handy tool to fight back the dark and stay healthy, while exploring a random new world.
