Not until recently, we heard that Xbox One has sold over 3 million units worldwide. However, it looks like Microsoft does not consider the sales figures much impressive. Or may be they are getting desperate to reach the Playstation 4’s sales figures.
Why I say this? Because according to some reports that have surfaced recently, Microsoft and Machinima are offering $3 per 1,000 views to big YouTube commentators for promoting Xbox One.
The guidelines from supposedly official e-mail state that $3 will be provided per 1,000 views, the video should be at least 30 seconds long, the commentator must mention that he/she is playing on an Xbox One, and the video must contain XB1M13 tag.
The e-mail that has been sent to YouTubers read:
Michinima is happy to offer YOU a $3 CPM bonus when you participate in our continued promotion for the Xbox One!
It’s easy! Here’s how:
- Incorporate at least 30 seconds of gameplay or footage of ANY Xbox One game.
- Verbally mention in the video that you are playing on the Xbox One.
- Tag your video with: XB1M13.
- Follow the guidelines listed in the assignment.
- Submit the LIVE YouTube link through Poptent.
The campaign will start on January 14th and will go until February 9th, or until a collective 1.25 million views have been reached.

This has officially been declared as legit by Machinima UK Community Manager; Ron.

This certainly looks like a brilliant business strategy as famous YouTubers usually have millions of subscribers. As for the viewers’ response, I don’t know how they’ll react to it!?
There is no official word on this either from Major Nelson or Xbox Twitter or Facebook pages. But I wouldn’t be surprised if some of subscribed YouTube commentators start promoting Xbox One.
