Annual charts released for 2013 by the NPD Group reveals that Grand Theft Auto V was the best selling game last year in the US.
The news isn’t that surprising really, considering it managed to cross $1 billion in just the first three days of its launch.
Rockstar’s latest GTA installment then went on to break a total of seven Guinness world records, including the fastest entertainment property to gross $1 billion. It also overtook the lifetime sales of Grand Theft Auto IV in UK within the first three weeks of release.
Coming in second place is Call of Duty: Ghosts. Despite the fact that many point at Call of Duty games to be similar every year, each title has always ended up being the year’s blockbuster game.
Battlefield 4 placed fourth, followed by Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. Interestingly Call of Duty: Black Ops II managed to come on the seventh spot. This game really has sold good.
