Back in November, we reported that The Next Car Game had been taken off of Kickstarter after the developer wanted to shift focus to pre-orders.
It got me thinking whether they were going to make it the way everyone expected. Here’s a chance for us to find out for sure; Next Car Game is now available on Steam Early Access.
The announcement post on Steam comes with an upscale tagline “It’s a motorsport, but not just any motorsport. It’s a motorsport with attitude.” The post goes on to detail that it will be a demolition derby themed racing game. Rest of the post mentions words life crashes, demolition, breakneck and so on couple of times – you get the idea.
It is boasting of more or less what every other racing game brags, but there still in an element of being on the edge. Here’s what the game is all about:
“Expect epic crashes and tight, neck-to-neck fights over the finish line on run-down racing tracks. Expect proper demolition derbies. Expect brand new ways for metal to bend and the signature once-in-the-lifetime moments that can be achieved only with true-to-life physics simulation.
The game has been in Early Access since December last year but it was being preordered through the own website of developer Bugbear. So far, a playable build has also been released in November for everyone who preordered the game.
Next Car Game is bound to be released somewhere in early spring 2014 – I guess that is just around the corner now.
