Toukiden: The Age of Demons will finally hit western soils next month on the PlayStation Vita, publisher Tecmo Koei announced today.
The game will release in North America on February 11, 2014 and Europe on February 14, 2014. According to Chin Soon Sun, Tecmo Koei Europe’s Community Manager, the game has already sold half a million in Japan following its release in June, 2013.
The publisher also confirmed that the game will only feature an English-language localization and that “it’s Japanese voice with English subtitles only.”
The game pits mankind against an invasion of monstrous demons (Oni) that appear in various size and strengths. These have developed a taste of human flesh and are looking forward to destroying every living being on Earth.
Inspired by various historical periods of Japan, the only force standing in the way of these demons are the Slayers, a secret cast that are forever training to hold off such an invasion.
The Oni though are able to almost instantly regenerate themselves. Hence any attacks on their bodies are futile. players will have to work with other Slayers to systematically destroy their body parts and then “use the Ritual of Purification to prevent the Oni from regenerating.”
