SegmentNext Awards: Best Xbox 360 Game of 2013
It’s not always an easy task to pick up the ‘Best Xbox 360 game of 2013′ when you’re provided with such amazing titles throughout the year. It matters not; our whole staff has cast its votes and we present you SegmentNext’s pick. But let’s get a recap of the nominations first:
- GTA 5
- Rayman Legends
- Bioshock Infinite
- Tomb Raider
- Gears of War: Judgment
The winner is Grand Theft Auto V.
Grand Theft Auto V needs no introduction, known by everyone related to video games one way or another. Although it’s not on a par with its predecessors like Vice City and San Andreas, it certainly isn’t less fun.
Needless to say but visually, GTA V is one of the most beautiful looking titles out there. Even on Xbox 360 and Playstation 3, it offers butter-smooth frame rates, beautiful animations, and facial expressions.
Rockstar has created the gigantic world of Los Santos with uttermost details. Underwater sceneries, mountains, and landscape present players with a vast variety of areas to explore. As for sound, the game features a long play list of licensed tracks from early 2000s that take no time to relax you!
The story of GTA V revolves around three criminal minds that come across each other in the city of Los Santos. Each of these characters has his own narrative that is smartly adjusted in the game.
Players are given the ability to switch among any of the three characters by a simple push of D-pad. You’ll be amazed to see your characters engaged in a number of activities (cycling, getting chased by cops, arguing, playing with a pet dog, etc.) when you switch to them.
Each one of the characters has their own set of attributes like flying, driving, shooting, etc. that can be enhanced by practice. Aside from the main story, there are a ton of favors and side-quests to complete.
All in all, GTA V is an experience that you shouldn’t miss at all!
Stickups, exploring the world and an unpredictable story urge you to come for more. The game does have its flaws, but they can be neglected considering the fun factor. With GTA V, Rockstar has proven once again that no one can do it better than them.
Runner-up: Lagging behind is Gears of War: Judgment; a third-person shooter developed by Epic Games exclusively for Xbox 360. The game brings forth all the characters from its predecessors, but the experience does get tame after a while.
The hardcore fans will certainly enjoy this journey, but if you’re new to the franchise, we wouldn’t recommend judging the whole franchise by this one. There is a lot of blood, shooting, and a lot of locusts to blow.
