Kudos to the SimCity fans; an upcoming patch, Update 10 will introduce the SimCity Offline Mode to the city building simulator. A post on the game’s official website has announced the big news.
It had been a long time since people criticized Maxis for making an online only game – some believed that it had taken away all the fun from a good game. The Update 10 will allow you to continue to play solo in Regions or in the multiplayer mode but what’s new is the Single Player Mode which let’s you play offline.
As far as the development process of the SimCity Offline Mode is concerned, the official announcement post reads:
“We are in the late phases of wrapping up its development and while we want to get it into your hands as soon as possible, our priority is to make sure that it’s as polished as possible before we release it.”
Ah well, a double yes to that. No one wants another fiasco like the SimCity Online itself, so they better take as much time as they need to make sure the game isn’t so full of bugs that it loses all the fun.
We had first heard that Maxis is exploring offline option for the game in October. It has already been two to three months since then so I expect it won’t be too long before we actually see it on your game.
How glad are you about the SimCity Offline Mode?
