Those who had previously purchased and registered Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn but now have their accounts set to “inactive” can opt to jump back in for free this weekend.
Having updated the game to version 2.1, Square Enix wants players to return and experience a load of new quests, dungeons, raids, PvP battles and more.
Of course, this is meant for those who went through whatever the MMO had to offer and with nothing else to do, skipped out on subscribing the game for the coming months. Those who did try out the game and were not impressed enough to stick as a subscribing party can choose to ignore this invitation.
The free weekend of Final Fantasy XIV will run from Saturday, January 11 at 12:00 a.m. PST until Monday, January 13 at 12:00 PST. Players can check their availability for the weekend on the game’s website.
Final Fantasy XIV will release for the PlayStation 4 on February 22, coinciding with the console’s launch in Japan. Though the game will launch in beta phase, everyone having a PS4 will be able to join in. Square Enix has enough confidence in the game’s shape to have everyone test it to the fullest.
The team is now working on patch 2.2, details of which will be released soon.
