Mercury Steam’s New Title Won’t be Coming to Wii U

Mercury Steam, the one behind Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, is already working on a new project which will be “completely different” from the said fantasy series. Their new title though is in the pipes for PS4, Xbox One, PC; and will not release for the Wii U.

Speaking with GameSpot, producer Dave Cox revealed that there were a number of ideas that could not make it into Lords of Shadow 2 and will now be included in their new next-gen title. These ideas included unspecified combat mechanics for one.

On the subject of whether Konami will be porting over Lords of Shadow 2 to PS4 and Xbox One; he said that they currently have no plans to do that since it would require sufficient time spent on changing the game engine significantly.

However the option of outsourcing the project to another studio is there. “I suppose it’s not out of the question, but it’s not something that’s on our radar right now,” Cox said.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 will be released on PC, PS3 and 360 on February 25 in the US and February 28 in Europe.
