No Multiplayer for Alien: Isolation, Seems like Sega is Shuffling Its Feet
Some of you might have come across the Alien: Isolation posting on the Xbox Game Store that listed and confirmed multiplayer features in the game.
It would have been quite a welcome news if it was so, but Sega has pushed out a press release negating it. There will be no multiplayer co-op features in Alien Isolation.
The original post on Xbox Game Store listed multiplayer content, online and local co-op and competitive multiplayer modes. The posting has since been changed, but you can check out a screenshot of it at the end of the story.
Sega’s press release reads:
“There was an error in reporting earlier today about a feature of the game stating multiplayer and co-op features for Alien: Isolation. There will be no help, no solace, no escape from the Universe’s deadliest killer. Please let us know if you’d like to discuss further.”
It could be that the features were listed in error as there had been no mention of multiplayer features when an official press event was held by the company back in December. Yet what makes us wonder is how extensive can an error be as it showed everything from leaderboards, to online co-op and online multiplayer.
What makes me think that Sega is shuffling their feet as originally it was reported that Alien Isolation would be an FPS but now Creative Assembly says that it will be a first person survival horror game instead of a shooter.
Alien Isolation releases to PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in late 2014.
