Sony Online Entertainment is considering uniting the payment options of all of their online titles and offer a one-price subscription instead that will cover all games.
Posting on Reddit, SOE head John Smedley detailed the company’s idea saying that they are “considering (and are likely going to move forward with) a plan that means if you subscribe to one of our games you are a subscriber to all our games.”
He then added that the feature would cater to only the PC titles and will be for $14.99 a month. Citing business restrictions like the inability to use SOE’s Station Cash currency, this new subscription model would not be coming to PS3 or PS4.
Sony Online Entertainment currently boasts the following titles under their PC category: EverQuest Next Landmark, EverQuest Next Landmark, Dragon’s Prophet, PlanetSide 2 and DC Universe Online. Consider yourselves paying $14.99 a month in the future to play all of those titles if you so wish.
However, there are most of us who say are stuck with just a single title from that list. So how does this offer effect us? Smedley responded that they’ve “got a great lineup of games, some of which aren’t announced yet that cater to a lot of players” and that future titles would make us consider expanding our horizons. He teased something new that so far has been unannounced ,”we have EQN and EQNL coming along with other….. games… that PS2 players might just like.”
Note that this offer is for the Premium Subscribers only. Those wishing to play the games for free will be able to continue to do so.
