The list of Steam Machine manufacturers shared by Valve Corporation previously didn’t include Digital Storm, but the range of Steam Machines shown today at CES 2014 included their model too. What’s more, the company will be the first to release a Steam Machine in the open market too.
That being said, the manufacturer has priced its device at an insanely high $1899 which they are charging against a top of the range graphics specs that the Bolt 2 comes with.
They “are not looking to compete with console pricing,” said Digital Extreme’s director of product development Rajeev Kuruppu, but that doesn’t change the fact that it costs nearly equal to the price of five PlayStation 4s.
“We’re taking aim at the high end of the market, targeting consumers that demand the best possible gaming experience and who are looking for a PC capable of playing any title on their new 4K display.”
The machine comes with a 240mm radiator which according to Kuruppu will make it the most thermally efficient SFF computer in the market. It is a 16 inch high and 14 inches wide tower with a thickness of 4.4 inches.
