Zynga Testing the Usage of Bitcoin for Expanded Payment Options

By   /   Jan 6, 2014

Social gaming giant Zynga is planning to further expand their payment options by adding the option of using Bitcoin. The company has announced through Reddit that they will be conducting a Bitcoin test to see how things go.

For those of you who do not know, Bitcoins are virtual currency that was created only a couple of years back. The idea has been gaining popularity in the recent days which is the reason why the social games developer has decided to give it a try.

“In response to Bitcoin’s rise in popularity around the world, Zynga, with help from BitPay, is testing expanded payment options for players to make in-game purchases using Bitcoin.”

The games that are currently offering the Bitcoin test are FarmVille 2, CastleVille, ChefVille, CoasterVille, Hidden Chronicles, Hidden Shadows and CityVille. You can visit the official website of Zynga if you would want to try out any of these games using your Bitcoin stack.

Previously Zynga has been offering in-game purchases to their players through Credit Cards, PayPal as well as Facebook local currency.

We are not sure how long the test will last, will it be made a permanent feature or will it be scraped; but the legitimacy of the Bitcoin currency will still be strengthened with this and other steps like these.
