It’s hard to say how Sony fans will react to this but according to Sony Computer Entertainment; the company is shutting down online servers for a number of its exclusive titles (Playstation 3 ones). It doesn’t come as a surprise since we’ve witnessed such changes in the past as well.
The servers will begin to shut down from 28 January, 2014 for SOCOM: Special Forces, SOCOM: Confrontation, and MAG. The Resistance franchise including Resistance: Fall of Man, Resistance 2, and Resistance 3 will follow with their servers shutting down from 28 March, 2014.
And lastly, we have Gran Turismo 5 which will be taken down by 20 May, 2014. The users will still be able to play the offline modes of above cited games with the exceptions of SOCOM: Confrontation and MAG since these don’t offer an offline mode.
As of now, it’s not known whether the multiplayer trophies for these games will also disappear or stay intact. Those of you trying to earn a Platinum for any of these games might want to hurry up.
