Minecraft has proved to be a dominant force this past generation and is now looking to leave its mark in the next-generation as well. The title was recently released for the PS3, after a long exclusive time of being on the PC and Xbox 360. Currently Mojang has confirmed that they are working on a port for the PlayStation 4, Vita and Xbox One. Now though you can add the Wii U to that list as well.
While still to be officially confirmed, there are strong rumors pertaining to Mojang working on a Wii U edition as well which will launch next year in summer alongside the PS4 and Xbox One editions.
Nintendo Enthusiast claims its sources have confirmed the game’s development on the Nintendo platform and that the studio is in in possession of Wii U dev kits now. According to its sources, the Wii U GamePad is a big focus, but in what way is still unknown. Perhaps once the holidays are over, Mojang will make an official announcement informing us of their plans. Until then treat this as a rumor.
Minecraft crossed 33 million sales across all platforms this past October. You can expect that to rise tremendously once it comes out for the PS4, Xbox One, Vita and possibly, the Wii U.
