It looks like people who have wanted to get a decent share of indie games on their Xbox One won’t have to wait for much longer. Microsoft is gearing up to release its first wave of Xbox One indie games through ID@Xbox by the end of the first quarter of 2014.
The program director of ID@Xbox, Chris Charla has confirmed that indie titles will be out in the market for Xbox One “early in the New Year.” He had further emphasized the release window to be around spring, saying that “I think it will be early in the New Year, in the first three months,”
“I would say closer to the third month. In terms of how many games there will be, it’s hard to say, because they’re still in development,” he said. This means we are looking at March most probably.
There are approximately 32 developing studios that are working with ID@Xbox and most of them have been developing their games since quite a few months.
While explaining the work that the developers have done Charla said that there were studios who had started developing specifically after ID@Xbox was inaugurated while there are others who already had games in development and are now working on Xbox One versions.
How excited are you about Xbox One indie games?
