Following the game’s official announcement last month, the first trailer for Lego: The Hobbit was released today by Warner Bros.
Telltale Games are the ones behind this latest Lego installment and will cover events of the first two movies, which are Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and The Desolation of Smaug, the latter of which just hit theaters worldwide. It has to be asked though as to whether there will be another Lego Hobbit installment once the third and final movie gets released next year.
Lego: The Hobbit will allow players to control a large number of characters from both films. The list includes Gandalf, Bilbo, Thorin, Fíli, Kíli, Óin, Glóin, Dwalin, Balin Bifur, Bofur, Bombur, Dori, Nori, and Ori. Furthermore the game plays host to several familiar locations from the film, such as The Shire and Rivendell.
“Players will follow Bilbo Baggins as he is recruited by the Wizard Gandalf to aid Thorin Oakenshield and his Company of Dwarves. Bilbo leaves the comforts of the Shire on a journey through Middle-earth to help the Dwarves reclaim their lost Kingdom of Erebor within the Lonely Mountain,” reads the publisher’s description.
Lego: The Hobbit is set to release in spring 2014 for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PC, 3DS, and Wii U.
