Developer Unknown Worlds Entertainment has recently released a video revealing their latest project, an underwater, open-world, exploration and construction game called Subnautica. The video was uploaded on a channel on youtube (also by the name of Subnautica) and features three other videos at this time which contain one original soundtrack each.
Unknown Worlds believes that they might be treading new ground with Subnautica, as their official website says:
Subnautica will combine elements of role playing, sandbox, exploration and cinematic games to create a unique experience, the genre of which we do not believe has yet been invented.
The game is in it’s early stages of prototyping, and the development team is hard at work creating the first in-game art assets, soundscapes, and animations for the game. However, the team has made it very clear that this isn’t really even a game at this point.
Subnautica is not in ‘alpha,’ it is an idea that is just starting to be mouled [sic] into its first playable incarnations. We are not ready to announce it and try to ‘build buzz’ or ‘attract attention’ – But we are ready, and excited, to share our work with you.
Unknown Worlds is encouraging their community and anyone who is interested in the concept of the game to pitch in with feedback and the sharing of ideas. Finally they also mention that they will be releasing videos, artworks, design proposal tidbits every week on their social medias in case anyone is interested.
