Here is a new way to gather even more loot in Borderlands 2 using Gearbox Software’s new mobile app called ‘LootTheWorld’.

The mobile app is valid for multiple Gearbox titles, including Borderlands, Borthers in Arms and Aliens: Colonial Marine. All players have to do is to use their mobiles to scan QR codes and bar codes in order to create random in-game items and weapons. Then, by redeeming stamps (which Gearbox will be giving away codes for on Twitter and Facebook), these items can be sent into the game using a player’s Shift account.

According to Gearbox Software once a code is scanned and an item generated, that item will forever be tied with that code. Hence, say you scanned a code to get a new flaming rocket launcher. Everyone else who scans that specific code will get the same item. This step was taken by the studio to initiate a sort of scavenger hunt where you can tell your friends on how to get an item.

The generated loot will not depend on the real-world pricing of an item. “A small box of paper clips could mean a legendary and your 50-inch Samsung [TV] may not,” said Gearbox.

The app is free to download and is now available from iTunes and Google Play.
