PlayStation 4 Sold Out in South Africa Within 24 Hours

The PlayStation 4 continues to dominate sales, this time selling out in South Africa in just 24 hours following its official launch.

The news was revealed earlier by Ster Kinekor Entertainment, the South African distributor of PlayStation in South Africa. According to the company, Sony’s next-gen console sold out around the country within 24 hours of going on sale at midnight on December 12th, 2013.

That’s a mighty achievement indeed and also makes the console “the fastest selling console in Ster Kinekor Entertainment history.” Ster Kinekor Entertainment has previously been distributors for the entire PlayStation catalog (PlayStation One, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, PSP, PS Vita). However, the sales of the PlayStation 4 have proved to be surprising.

In a prepared statement CEO of Ster Kinekor Entertainment, Mario Dos Santos, said:

It has been an interesting road full of surprises this last year in the lead up to the PS4 announcement and we are ecstatic that we’ve broken a SKE record with these sales thanks to our loyal customers and stakeholder support. The demand continues to overwhelm supply, but we’re working extremely hard to get PS4 consoles into the hands of customers as quickly as possible.

With the holidays fast approaching, the company would be trying its best to bring in as much stock as possible. However, it’ll still be a good idea for any one to try their best and secure one for themselves as soon as its availability is announced.
