Funding for Maia Reaches its Goal With Half a Million Dollars Raised

Looks like opting for Steam Early Access has treated the Maia team very well; the game is now fully funded as per the budget, thanks to four awesome days at Steam.

A post was made on the game’s Kickstarter page by game creator Simon Roth who said that they were overwhelmed by the support shown by the community at the digital distributor’s platform.

According to him, the reception of their space based building simulator has exceeded all expectations.

“We certainly didn’t expect to be featured on the front page of Steam for so long. We spent several days outselling games like Assassin’s Creed and Call of Duty at one point we even became the #2 seller,” reads the post.

Roth discussed how Funding for Maia was completed from the sales of the alpha version of the game. He stated that the total funds collected are now in the tune of half a million dollars (we expect $140K raised from Kickstarter to be included in that).

After completing the Kickstarter campaign in August, Maia was released to Steam Early Access last week on December 4. Just the first 4 days had been enough to cover the expenses required.

Obviously, we do not have a release date yet but Roth has detailed a features list that could be expected out of the 0.5 version of Maia – check it out.
