Good news for fans of Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky, as the sequel is still doing well and scheduled for release in mid-2014.
As noted by Siliconera, a recent Facebook post by Xseed games says that The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky SC will arrive on the Playstation Portable (PSP) handheld, as well as PC.
When asked for a release update, the company stated:
Shooting for early 2014 for FC (on PC), and probably more middle of the year for SC.
To explain some of the acronyms there: FC stands for “First Chapter” and SC stands for “Second Chapter.” A third one should normally complete the previously announced trilogy.
You may be wondering why this roleplaying game (RPG) is still bothering to service the fading out PSP handheld. Well, the original release was a PSP exclusive, meaning that its fan base rests there.
It would be unkind of the company to ask fans to switch to a new and costly PS Vita handheld to continue their story. A PC release sounds like a reasonable compromise.
In Trails of the Sky, players follow the story of Estelle and Joshua. This odd couple discovers their adventurous lineage and goes in search of answers, where they find an oppressive regime.
Gameplay follows a traditional turn-based combat scheme as well as character enhancement, party systems and more good, old RPG tactics.
Its original release was very well received, leading to a sizable legion of followers. They’ve been waiting since 2011 for a continuation of their story.
