Runescape was running a charity among the community recently. The collection of charity funds just ended and Jagex Games Studio has confirmed to have managed $90,000!
The Well of Goodwill was enacted to collect in-game gold coins donations from players all over the world. The in-game money was then converted into real money in a ratio of 10 million gold pieces donated by community to $1 donation by Jagex to charitable causes.
The post reads:
The scale of your response was spectacular and deeply moving, and just goes to again validate what I’ve always believed in: that the RuneScape Community is as warm, generous and big-hearted as ever.
As of today, a total of 544 billion gold pieces equal to $54,479′ were donated by the gaming community which in itself is overwhelming generosity knowing how gamers drop sweat to earn the in-game wealth.
Moreover, in-game bonds were launched and a total of 7,736 bonds have earned $36,359 in real life for the charities.
The total amount, a little over $90,000 will be divided between Willow Foundation, SpecialEffect, Action For Kids, Games Aid, Internet Watch Foundation, HART and the DEC Philippines Typhoon Appeal.
Jagex has stated that they plan to continue the streak of supporting worthy events through Runescape Well of Goodwill. How many of you have chimed in with their dimes?
