2013 is turning to be an historic year for gamers, president and group CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment Andrew House stated that they have another milestone to report to us.
Sony’s next generation console PlayStation 4 has sold more than 2.1 million units to date, he announced via PlayStation Blog.
PlayStation 4 was released in North America on November 15 and had topped one million in sales figures in just the first 24 hours of its launch. The European release of the console was a couple of days back on November 29. This made the total number of launch territories equal 32.
PlayStation 4 Sales figure reported by the post include 700,000 units that were sold in Europe on the launch day of PlayStation 4 as well. Which leaves us with another 400,000 approximately which was spread out between sales in North America and Europe after the launch days.
From the looks of it, they plan to go a long way:
“The PS4 journey has just begun. In addition to an incredible lineup of PS4 games from the best developers in the world, we will continue to introduce valuable new features and services to PS4 in the months and years ahead.”
Back in September, Sony had boasted that they expect to sell 5 million units of PlayStation 4 by the financial year end i.e. March 2014. We all know that launch days attain the maximum sales figures; now do you think Sony will be able to actually sell that much?
