Yes, they are actually doing it. Sony has confirmed that they will be selling their next generation videogaming console PlayStation 4 and the latest handheld gaming console PlayStation Vita together in a bundle.
What’s more, the “soft bundle” as they call it, will be available from today! Sony UK boss Fergal Gara was talking to Eurogamer today where he announced the news. When talking about the soft bundle and the pricing he said:
“We expect the gamer(s) to be able to pick that up for under £500. It’s not a hard bundle pack at this point in time. It’s us working with the retailer to effectively deliver a soft bundle.” And he continued, “It’s starting to happen now.”
Gara has nevertheless highlighted the issue of supply and demand that could be a constraint in the availability of the bundle for those who wish to buy it right away. He stated that if a retailer has enough PlayStation 4s and enough PlayStation Vitas he would be selling the bundle.
On the other hand, having just the required number of consoles will only cater to the usual demand which means the retailers will be able to sell the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita bundle if they have free stock with them.
So right now, the bundle is official but it is dependent on supply of consoles too.
How keen are you in getting both the consoles? Did Sony’s attempts to relate the handheld with the next generation console’s gameplay change how you look at the idea of needing to own both?
