Although PlayStation 4’s Playroom was supposed to be based around animation and games related experiences, the people using Twitch Livestreaming functionality didn’t really like it that way. Most of the users were using the channels to stream nongaming content – mostly just for fun.
As a result, Twitch has taken action and literally removed all the channels that were livestreaming content form the Playroom. Yes, not one or a few; not even just those that were using it for nongaming purposes but all the channels that were streaming The Playroom content.
“We removed Playroom content from the directory because a majority of it was non-gaming related,” said the representative. “We will look into adding it back as PS4 owners become more familiar with the games-only focus of Twitch content. In the meantime, you can view all of the amazing gameplay from PS4 broadcasters in this directory page on Twitch.”
The step was taken after Twitch announced yesterday that they will initiate a crackdown on all the non game related streams of Playroom. They had clarified that non gaming content is not allowed according to their terms and conditions. They insist that if you are using The Playroom, your content has to be game related, not otherwise.
Previous reports of violations of the terms included a couple who had started a live call-in show via The Playroom over Twitch – something that they called The Spartan Show. Well, no more anchoring for you folks, try your talent somewhere else.
Let’s just hope that The Playroom streams get reinstated and that people learn to follow the rules so that others can benefit from the features as intended.
