Atlus has today revealed that Persona 5 will be heading exclusively for the PlayStation 3 in Japan in winter 2014. While the developer didn’t mention a North American release, the title will probably head forth to the west later on.
Details on the game are scarce at this point but a teaser trailer that accompanied the announcement contained the following line: “You are a slave, want emancipation?”
Katsura Hashino, the mind behind Persona 3 and 4, will be once again directing the new installment. Hashino is also known for his work on Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne and Catherine.
While Atlus has only announced the game for the PlayStation 3, the possibility of it arriving on the new PlayStation 4 is still there. We may perhaps get to hear about that next year once the console launches in Japan in February.
Persona 4 was released in 2008 for the PlayStation 2 while Persona 4: Arena was released back in August 2012. You can bet on it that fans of the series will be anxiously waiting to get their hands on the latest installment next year.
Atlus is currently also working on Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth, which was announced recently for an exclusive release on the Nintendo 3DS on June 5, 2014 in Japan.
