George R.R. Martin’s Game of Thrones the series that got an insanely famous TV show in its name might be getting another game, this time from Telltale Games. IGN has reported on authority of certain sources that the project is currently underway.
This will actually be the fourth game to be made on the same idea. Previously we have had a role playing Game of Thrones by Atlus, Game of Thrones: Seven Kingdoms by Bigpoint and Focus Home Interactive’s Game of Thrones: Genesis.
Telltale game is known to have a habit of working on licensed properties and has worked on a handful of different projects. Some of the notable properties they have worked on include Jurassic Park, Back to the Future, Fable and The Walking Dead – the famed episodic zombie based game.
IGN had reached out to Telltale for comment on the issue, Steve Allison a senior vice president of publishing has replied by saying:
“We get these sorts of rumors about what we could be working on next cropping up all the time. Officially we have no comment.”
That naturally was a typical response in matters like these, of course if they are working on a title that big they wouldn’t be outing it through a mere statement.
Nevertheless, if you want to build on the news, Telltale CEO Dan Connors had said in October that they were working on licenses that would “definitely fall into our dream IP scenario.”
Looking at how big the Game of Thrones is, this could really be what they are talking about.
What do you think?
