Online retailer Amazon has listed a version of Tomb Raider for Playstation 4. The game for the next generation console was listed through the site’s Italian portal. It’s marked as “Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition” and would cost €59.99.
The release date for the PS4 version of the game seems to be January 24, 2014. A description notes that it would contain all downloadable content (DLC) that has been released. Seeing as it’s a “definite edition,” it would make sense to bundle it with all DLC. Pre-order copies would also include an exclusive art book of the game.
Tomb Raider was rebooted this year for the modern generation of games, after a decreasing interest in its series and several other attempts to relaunch its heroine. For instance, Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light already tried to switch the model to more action oriented platform section from an isometric perspective.
The modern take on Tomb Raider released in March of 2013. Despite its strong critical acclaim, with a Metacritic range of over 85, Square Enix was disappointed with its sales, which is also something they mentioned for Hitman Absolution. Still, both titles have sold millions of copies since release.
In the reboot, players find out the origin story for Lara Croft and how the delicate, intelligent teenage girl goes from a prisoner to a predator. It’s possible to hunt animals, climb rocks and upgrade weaponry with found scraps in this adventure bearing mystical events.
