Destiny’s Beta Will Head First to PS3 and PS4

During the launch event of the PlayStation 4, Sony announced that the beta for Bungie’s upcoming MMO shooter, Destiny, will head first to the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4.

For now Bungie has only mentioned that pre-ordering the game pretty much guarantees your chances of playing the beta. However, there will be other ways to participate as well and those will be detailed later on. Currently many of those who have pre-ordered the game have already begun to receive their beta codes. If you’re one of those and haven’t received a code yet, either you’re really unlucky or you’ll get it soon.

Bungie also announced that Destiny would feature “exclusive content” for the PlayStation 4. We’re not sure if these are in the form of digital goodies or perhaps bonus missions. Seeing that it is a MMO, it wouldn’t be surprising if the exclusive content is purely cosmetic.

The beta is scheduled to take place in early 2014, with the game officially releasing in spring 2014. Sony has talked about how the beta will actually be treated as a full release. Expect plenty of informative videos being released until the beta date approaches. Here’s one where Eric Osborne, the community manager of Destiny and assistant community manager David Dague spent eight minutes explaining how stuff works in the game.
