The Witcher 3: PS4 Development Was a “Dream Come True”

Michał Krzemiński, Senior Art producer for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is all praise about working with Sony’s latest PlayStation 4 console.

The third and last installment in CD Projekt’s critically acclaimed RPG franchise is looking like yet another stunning addition to the series. While Witcher 2 was ported to Xbox 360 after the PC and never saw a release on PS3, Wild Hunt will be released simultaneously on all platforms.

In an exclusive interview with PlayStation Universe, Krzemiński said that working with Sony’s latest console was “a dream come true when it comes to game development.”

He highlighted how the beefed up hardware of the PlayStation 4 gave the developer freedom to finally bring Geralt to life on a console platform.

Seeing his enthusiasm the next logical question was of course the similarities between the PC and PS4 version of the game. Can Witcher 3 be maxed out on the console just like its PC brother?

“That’s a really tough question to answer”, said Krzemiński, “because you learn the system along the way and games that are developed at the end of a console’s life cycle are always better looking despite the hardware remains unchanged. And it’s not a thing specific to us, other studios are subject to this as well. Nonetheless, The Witcher 3’s visuals will blow you away.”

Since this is the first time a Witcher title has appeared on a console, players may feel confused about the lore itself. CD Projekt plans to tackle that issue by featuring a standalone narrative that will bring everyone up to date with the events of the past titles.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is due for release in 2014 on the PS4, Xbox One and PC.
