Activision announced today that the next-gen versions of Skylanders Swap Force will launch on November 12, 2013 in North America ahead of the consoles’ releases.
The game is claimed to run in native 1080p on both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One; a news that many Xbox One future owners would be pleased to know.
Swap Force is the third installment in the popular Skylanders franchise and is said to feature 16 characters at launch. However, combining the top and bottom halves of each of the characters can help players achieve another 250 possible characters.
We really wanted to deliver that interactive kids movie experience,” said the game’s producer Chris Wilson in a statement. Really bring the world of Skylanders to life in a way we haven’t seen before. It’s really all about immersion: taking kids on that fantasy adventure and putting them in this new world.
The next-gen versions of Skylanders Swap Force are going to feature even better visuals thanks to an improved graphics engine that takes the consoles’ hardware into account.
Unfortunately, players on the Xbox One version will not be able to utilize the console’s DVR capture and community sharing abilities. The reason cited was that the developers were more interested in delivering the same core experience across every platform.
The PlayStation 4 launches in a couple of days on November 15 while the Xbox One will hit retail on November 22.
