Well Summoners, looks like the rumors were true, it seems that the World Championships for Season 4 of League of Legends will be held in South Korea, the home ground of the current world champions.
The news has just come through a post on the official website by Riot Redbeard.
South Korea is regarded as the epicenter of professional eSports, where the field has truly bloomed. Their Starcraft scene has always been legendary, and eSports are televised by OnGameNet and governed by KESPA, the Korean Electronic Sports Association. According to Redbeard:
South Korea is widely considered to be a center of esports and is home to some of the most devoted fans on the planet. With a deep esports heritage, this is an ideal location to follow up the largest esports event to date and showcase the top League of Legends players. At the World Championship, they’ll battle it out for the title of world’s best.
However, this is a long way off, and there are a number of events in between now and then, such as the upcoming Atlantic Cup between North America and Europe and the ever-popular All Star Event, which will be taking place in Europe this time instead of Shanghai, China.
