In a recent podcast interview with Game Informer, Ready at Dawn boss Ru Weerasuriya talked about the exclusion of a weapon wheel in the upcoming PlayStation 4 exclusive, The Order: 1886.
Whether or not the title will feature an abundance of weapons is still unclear but Weerasuriya did note that they are going for a more practical approach with the game.
Rather than having a weapon wheel similar to the “Ratchet and Clank” games, The Order: 1886 is going to feature a weapon system that is going to be based on “a few weapons that a player can realistically carry.”
Ready at Dawn is “definitely not going with a big wheel,” he said. Players will be able to hold on to a pistol at their sides and a main weapon on their backs. As the story progresses players can also opt to replace a slot at the expense of another gun.
Such a system will have players choosing their weapons in real time and deciding what to keep and what to discard. Weerasuriya notes that the decision is going to be vital in some places as certain scenarios require specific weaponry to make a player’s job easier.
The Order: 1886 is being developed exclusively for the PlayStation 4 and is scheduled for launch sometime next year. Ready at Dawn has only released a few concept arts and limited screenshots so far. The title’s showing at E3 2013 though had everyone interested.
