Gaijin Entertainment’s War Thunder is raking big numbers when it comes to registered players. It was only a year ago when the game was released in the market and it has already achieved a landmark of 5 million players.
Surely, war itself is as bad as the humanity can get but as it seems simulations based on wars usually turn out to be a great success – look at how World of Tanks has been gaining more and more players.
The air combat based game was launched in January this year and here’s what Gaijin’s CEO had to say about it in the press release:
“To those who have served, and to those who continue to step up to answer the call of duty in War Thunder – we salute you! In your honor Gaijin Entertainment is organizing Golden Battles on November 3rd and 10th – this is a good chance for all players to improve their balance and get a unique decal to decorate their planes!” said Anton Yudintsev, CEO of Gaijin Entertainment.
In order to celebrate the huge number of players, certain special Golden Battles are being organized on November 10. A special decal of planes will be available for grabs through the special battles.
It is still unclear as to whether the five million figure represents the active number of players or just the registered users. No matter what it is, a multimillion figure is still impressive.
An Oculus Rift based version of War Thunder is currently under development for PlayStation 4 and is expected to come out into the market during this holiday season.
In case you have not checked out the game yet, go ahead to the website now, it is free to play on PC – or maybe you would want to wait for the PlayStation 4 version?
