Next Call of Duty and Skylanders Announced by Activision for 2014

I am not sure whether it’s a surprise or not but Activision’s CEO Robert Kotick has already revealed plans for the next game in the Call of Duty series as well as the next Skylanders game.

Well of course, it is not as big as the news that Call of Duty: Ghosts has crossed the $1 billion marker in the first 24 hours, but Call of Duty announcements are welcomed by many fans across the gllobe. Videogamer has reported Kotick to have announced the two new games during Activision’s earnings call for 2013’s third quarter.

“Despite short-term uncertainties, as we look forward to 2014, we have a very strong product pipeline. We expect multiple new releases across our major franchises, including the first Diablo III expansion, Reaper of Souls, along with the PS4 version of Diablo III and significant and exciting new content for World of Warcraft.”

“We also expect to launch new Call of Duty and Skylanders titles and a major new potential franchise with Bungie’s Destiny,” said Kotick.

The latest edition in the Call of Duty series, Ghosts was launched this Tuesday to a record breaking opening that broke the records of Grand Theft Auto 5’s $800million by scrapping $1 billion in the first 24 hours of the release. Skylanders’ last entry, Skylanders: Swap Force was released last month.

Both the games are set to launch on the next generation consoles too.

The complete earnings call is available on seekingalpha in case you would want to go through the complete 9 page report.

Is this a little early for the announcement? Or do you think it will further the sales for Call of Duty: Ghosts?
