It really seems like the initial rumors were true and that Infinity Ward is looking to replace the zombie horde with an alien one in their latest Call of Duty: Ghosts installment.
Treyarch has always included an undead mode in their Call of Duty titles, which have garnered a considerable following. There’s nothing more fun than blasting down advancing zombies. However with Ghosts, Infinity Ward may be jumping to the next best thing – a sci-fi genre featuring Aliens in what’s supposedly called the ‘Extinction’ mode.
Earlier today a series of screenshots were leaked that gave away some details of the mod. Extinction is going to feature class-based missions with support for cooperative gameplay. There are a total of four classes to choose from – Tank, Medic, Engineer and Weapon Specialist. Each class comes with its own set of loadouts of perks and special abilities. The core objective though remains the same and players will have to choose between gunning down alien bugs or else get ravaged.
The mode will also have its own currency which can be earned by completing missions. These can then be used to upgrade your abilities and weapons. This mode is seemingly unlocked after completing the first five missions of the campaign mode.
Call of Duty: Ghosts releases on November 5, 2013 for the PS3, Xbox 360, Wii U and PC.
