Batman: Arkham Origins Predator Challenges Guide

Batman Arkham Origins
Batman isn’t always about fierce hand-to-hand combat and brutal takedowns. But it is also about cautiously analyzing your surroundings, enemy movements, and having a lot of longanimity to wait for the right time to strike.

And this is what Predator Challenges are designed to test. These challenges take place inside some specially designed areas to encourage the stealth aspect of Batman.

To facilitate the players, these areas are abundant in vents, grappling points, and grates. Along with this, these areas are usually swarming with enemies and it is always advised NOT to take on all them at once. You don’t like to fail. Do you?

Taking out every enemy patrolling the area completes the challenge.

The best strategy that has worked out for me at least is using Vantage Points. Batman is able to grapple onto these Vantage Points to escape the enemies in case he gets spotted. However, enemies will still see you if you don’t hover between two to three Vantage Points.

These spots provide an excellent location to get a survey of the whole area before planning out your plan of attack.

Moreover, there are a number of attacks that you can execute directly from a Vantage Point. You can lock on to an enemy and use glide over to him for a quick Glide Kick. This temporarily knocks the enemy off and you will still have to take him out. This, however, does make a lot of noise and other guards will get alerted.

You can also perform a Drop Attack directly from Vantage Points which knocks the enemy out. This, again, makes a lot of noise and you might get spotted by other enemies if you don’t get to a different Vantage Point instantly.

And finally, you can perform Inverted Takedowns which leaves an enemy hanging from the Vantage Point.

Silent Takedowns are only helpful when you are encountering a lone guard. Crouch and get behind an enemy to take him down silently. Though, you will have the option of knocking them off during the takedown but it does make a lot of noise.

Another thing you should keep in mind is that if a patrolling guard comes near the dead body; all the guards in the room will get alerted.

In addition to the Vantage Points, grates and vents provide excellent cover and position to take out single enemies. Keep on roaming the grates and vents until you come across a lonely guard and then take him out silently.

You can switch between attacks from Vantage Points and Grates to baffle your enemies.

Another technique is to use your Remote Grapple to pull out items like fire extinguishers and shove them towards enemies for knocking them out quickly or creating a smoke which will work to your advantage by activating the Detective Mode.

While observing the Predator Room, you may notice some weak areas which can be blown away using Explosive Gel. Make sure that no one is around that area and quickly paste some Explosive Gel there and get to a Vantage Point.

Now wait for an enemy to get near it and KABOOM! You can take out multiple enemies with this technique by using it as bait. These Predator Challenges have a lot of surprises for you in store and one of these is the usage of Scramblers that the enemies use in order to cut off your most communications.

But your Disruptor comes to the rescue at this point.

You can use your Disruptor on these enemies to interrupt their Scramblers. Along with this, it also has an ability to disable the weapons of armed enemies for a few seconds giving you an obvious advantage against multiple armed thugs.

Batman: Arkham Origins Predator Challenges

Challenge maps are a fun little diversion in Batman: Arkham Origins. You can start a challenge map whenever you want, and basically it’s just a test of your skills. The requirements are different for each challenge

Each challenge is different from the last, and they are all timed. In order to succeed at a challenge you need to be quick and you need to know what you’re doing, however, since all the enemy placements and movements are constantly in flux, each time you try a challenge will be slightly different from the last time you tried it.

There are a total of 12 of these challenges and they automatically become available when playing through the story. To unlock the six extreme versions you need to beat campaign challenges. Certain abilities and gadgets are needed for some of them, so it’s a good idea to complete the story first and buy all of Batman’s upgrades.

Predator Challenge #1 – Breaking In

Goals

  • Smash Landing – Smash through a weak surface to take down an enemy.
  • Explosive takedown – Use the remote claw and a propane tank to take down an enemy.
  • Grate Moves – Perform a takedown from under a floor grate.

For this one, the Explosive takedown is the easiest. Use the claw on a propane tank near one of the patrolling guards whilst standing on a high vantage point above. After that jump down and immediately get under one of the floor grates. Take down another passing enemy. Lastly, wait for a good opportunity and hide near one of the smashable windows. When a guard passes the window from the other side, take him down.

Predator Challenge #2 – Easy Money

Goals

  • Venting Anger – Perform a takedown through a vent cover.
  • Blast Zone – Take down an enemy by exploding a weak wall.
  • Hang Time – Perform an inverted takedown from a vantage point.

You want to do Venting anger first. From the starting point, rappel to the gargoyle on the right wall, drop down and go over the railing to find a vent. This leads to an office, where you can take down a goon.

Afterwards, head back to the perch on the gargoyle and wait for a goon to run under you, perform an inverted takedown on him. Lastly, there are two breakable walls on the far side of the room from where you start. Use these for the last objective.

Predator Challenge #3 – Checking Out

Goals

  • Friends Fly Free – Pull down two enemies simultaneously while hanging from a ledge.
  • Chaos Theory – Perform an inverted takedown from a vantage point on a thermal enemy.
  • Knockout Smash – During a silent takedown perform a knockout smash to take down the enemy instantly.

When you start this one, rappel to the ledge where a rabbit soldier is looking out at the Christmas tree. You can take him down right now but be patient. Before long, one of his buddies comes up and stands next to him, allowing you a double ledge take down.

Next you need to rappel to a statue on the wall to the left, right above a soldier equipped with goggles. Perform an inverted takedown from the ledge. Lastly, sneak up on any enemy and initiate a silent takedown into knockout smash combo.

Predator Challenge #4 – Quiet Waters

Goals

  • Skull Cracker – Sneak up behind two enemies and perform a double takedown.
  • Over the Ledge – Hang from a ledge and pull an enemy down.
  • Zip and Out – Perform a zipline takedown on an enemy (upgrade required).
  • Skull Cracker – Sneak up behind two enemies and perform a double takedown.
  • Over the Ledge – Hang from a ledge and pull an enemy down.
  • Zip and Out – Perform a zipline takedown on an enemy (upgrade required).

You can find two enemies standing close together near the counter on the ground floor, use them for the Skull Cracker. For the Over the Ledge, remember that you can use the batclaw to pull people towards a ledge that you’re hanging off of. Use it when that patrolling enemy is just out of reach.

Predator Challenge #5 – Wrecking Crew

Goals

  • Smash and Grab – Perform an inverted takedown through a weak ceiling from a vantage point.
  • Mined your step – Detonate a mine as an enemy walks over it with the mine detonator (upgrade required).
  • Extinguished – Attach an enemy to a fire extinguisher with the remote claw and perform a silent takedown on any enemy caught in the smoke.

For this one, you should head up to the vantage point on the wall to the right. From here, you should see a weak surface directly beneath you as well as a guard patrolling the lower walkways. Use him for the first objective.

Next use the remote claw to create a cloud of smoke around an enemy and knock him out, try to use enemies in groups as the first person hit might be knocked out. Lastly, there is a proximity mine on one of the upper walkways. Use a sonic detonator to explode it as an enemy passes by it.

Predator Challenge #6 – Hard Time

Goals

  • Blast Zone – Take down an enemy by exploding a weak wall.
  • Take the Bait – Attract an enemy with the Sonic Batarang and take him down (upgrade required).
  • Chaos Theory – Perform an inverted takedown from a vantage point on a thermal enemy.

Most of these challenges you’ve already done in some form except the sonic batarang. You can find the breakable walls using the special vision and search for an enemy wearing goggles underneath one of the vantage points.

Predator Challenge #7 – Breaking in Extreme

Goals

  • Fall Guy – Take down an enemy from a walkway with the batclaw.
  • Vantage Mastery – Take down an enemy from a tightrope.
  • Window Pain – Perform a takedown through a glass window.

This is the exact map as the first challenge, therefore the map itself should be familiar to you. The challenges are a little different though. I suggest you do the first one in the beginning since it’s the easiest.

Just target an enemy standing near a ledge and use the batclaw to pull them over it. Use the vantage points to create a tightrope and takedown an enemy. Finally you’ve already done the third challenge before, on this very same level, so it should present little difficulty for you.

Predator Challenge #8 – Easy Money Extreme

Goals

  • Armor Piercing – Take out the armored enemy first.
  • Mined your step – Detonate a mine as an enemy walks over it with the mine detonator (upgrade required).
  • What goes up – When an enemy climbs to the top of a ladder, detonate explosive gel to send him flying back down.

Search for the armored enemy first and take him out. This should cause one of the guards on the upper balcony to drop down and investigate. Use this opportunity to spray explosive gel at the top of the ladder. When he tries to come back up, blow it up.

Predator Challenge #9 – Checking Out Extreme

Goals

  • Round the Bend – Use corner cover to hide and take down an approaching enemy.
  • Over the Ledge – Hang from a ledge and pull an enemy down.
  • Breaking and Entering – Perform a takedown through a weak wooden wall.

Right as you begin, there will be a sniper at a ledge past the Christmas tree. Use him for the over the ledge challenge. How loud at this point, attracting a bunch of attention. Use cover and lure and enemy to you, and take them down. There is a weak wooden wall near the entrance of the store. Put a noisemaker on it and hide behind. When a guard approaches, take them down.

Predator Challenge #10 – Quiet Waters

Goals

  • Extinguisher – Attach an enemy to a fire extinguisher with the remote claw and perform a silent take down on any enemy caught in the smoke.
  • Have A Nice Trip – Slide into an enemy and then knock him out on the ground.
  • Don’t Touch That Dial – Take down the enemy carrying the jammer backpack last.

This one is a little difficult due to the fact your special vision mode is disabled. Use the slide attack first to knock someone out, then take to the high vantage points. Look for a fire extinguisher and use it to complete goal number one. Take the jammer goon out last to complete the challenge.

Predator Challenge #11 – Wrecking Crew Extreme

Goals

  • Weapon Jam – Disrupt an enemy’s gun with the disruptor and take him down when his gun jams.
  • Fists of Fury – Take down an enemy with a beatdown.
  • Scare Tactics – Appear out of nowhere to surprise a terrified enemy.

For this one I recommend you search out and take down the jammer enemy first. He can make things a pain. You can even use beatdown to take him. Lastly, you can complete both of the others on a single enemy. Just make sure to hang up as many guards as you can to terrify the rest.

Work-in-Progress!
