Microsoft’s Xbox One has had its share of rumors and speculations, some good, some bad, and many-a-times the company has come forward to the public to shun or approve some of them.
It’s happened yet again – even with the release of the console just a few weeks away, Microsoft has admitted to the press that statements regarding its Windows 8 apps compatibility are somewhat false.
This “confession”, if you like to call it, came in an answer to Eurogamer’s inquiry regarding this matter.
The rumor arose from the silent soils of the interwebs when a seemingly misleading statement on Dell’s storefront listing was spotted, which stated:
Consider the game officially changed. With all your favorite Windows 8 apps able to be run on and synced to your Xbox One, now your phone, desktop, tablet and TV can all give you a unified web and entertainment experience.
In reply to this, Microsoft had one simple sentence to say:
The suggestion that all Windows 8 apps run on Xbox One is not accurate.
Yeah, we also noticed the “all”. This still leaves the notion that certain Windows 8 apps may actually run on the console, but it’s something we probably won’t get confirmation of until the Xbox One releases exactly a month from today.
Of course, if there is any news that comes up, we’ll certainly let you know.
