In an Interview with The Daily Beast, Michael Fassbender has come out to offer a brief update on the upcoming Assassin’s Creed movie. According to him, the movie is definitely a thing, and that they are developing the script at the moment.
While details are a bit sparse, but it’s most likely that the movie will be centered around Altair, as that would canonically be the first ancestor of Desmond to have contact with the Apple of Eden. Michael Fassbender will most likely be taking the role of the Assassin himself.
Speaking to The Daily Beast, when he was asked about his role in the Assassin’s Creed film and what he could say about it, he said the following:
That’s definitely happening. We’re just developing the script at the moment. I’d heard of it but had never played the game. I don’t have a video game player … that’s not what they’re called. [Laughs] I met up with the guys from Ubisoft and they told me the story behind it, and I thought it was very interesting—the idea of reliving memories.
It’s a tad disappointing that he’s never played the game, but Fassbender is an excellent actor and I’m certain he can make it work.
