Microsoft Announces ‘Games With Gold’ as “Ongoing Benefit for all XBL Gold Members”
The Games with Gold program was initiated for the Xbox 360 back in June, where Microsoft promised two free titles each month for players to pick up through Xbox Live. These originally were to stay valid until December 31, 2013. However, Microsoft has now announced that they will be extending the deadline and Games with Gold will now be offered “as an ongoing benefit for all Xbox Live Gold members on Xbox 360”.
Games with Gold started off by offering Fable 3, which was then followed by Defense Grid: The Awakening and Assassin’s Creed 2 in July. In August, players got a chance to get their hands on Crackdown, Dead Rising 2 and DR2 prologue Case Zero. September found Magic 2013 and Rainbow Six Vegas; while Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes was offered in the first half of October and Halo 3 is currently available until the end of the month.
Ever since the promotion started, Xbox 360 owners have spent more than 120 million hours playing Games with Gold titles.
Microsoft’s new Xbox One console launches on November 22, 2013 and the company has assured everyone that they plan on still supporting the eight year old Xbox 360 console. Xbox chief marketing and strategy officer Yusuf Mehdi expects Xbox 360 “to go for another three years” and for Microsoft to “ship over 100 new games” on the console.
